70,000 apps in the Android Market: Google
The Android Market now tops 70,000 apps officially, based on those who would know: Google. Google's Senior VP of Product Management Jonathan Rosenberg made that figure public during Thursday's second-quarter earnings call.
At the same time, Google noted that Android search grew 300 percent in the first half of 2010. In terms of the all-important financial results, During its second quarter of 2010, Google reported revenues of $6.82 billion, an increase of 24 percent year-over-year. The company's net income in Q2 was $1.84 billion, which is up from $1.48 billion year-over-year.
Sheer numbers in the Android Market aren't as important as quality of apps. What's most notable, perhaps, is that more and more vendors are porting apps from iOS to Android, so that more often, apps appear in both online stores.
